Devils Hold Off Lycoming, 6-5

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Junior midfielder Paul Colflesh and freshman midfielder Nick Ardolino each scored two goals to help the College at Florham Devils beat Lycoming, 6-5, on Saturday afternoon in MAC action.  The win gives the Devils the tiebreaker over Lycoming for the fourth seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament but things won't be finalized until late Saturday evening after all conference games have been completed.

With the win, the Devils improved to 10-6 (8-3 MAC) while the Warriors dropped to 9-7 (8-3 MAC).

The Devils got on the board first with a goal by Colflesh but Lycoming came back to score the next three to grab a 3-1 lead with 12:56 left in the second quarter.  FDU notched the final two goals of the half with Ardolino and freshman midfielder Jake Higgins scored to make it 3-3 heading into intermission.

FDU came out and scored the first two goals on the second half to grab a 5-3 advantage with 14:25 left in the fourth quarter before Lycoming made it 5-4 with 10:30 to go.  The Devils won the face-off though, and Ardolino scored just 0:27 later to put FDU up, 6-4.  The Warriors scored with a man advantage with 4:39 to play but the FDU defense rose up to secure the 6-5 victory.

Senior attack Drew Canfield finished the game with two assists while freshman midfielder Billy Deignan was 12-for-15 on face-offs.  Freshman goalkeeper Dino Vitale earned the win, making eight saves.

The Devils return to action on Monday, May 2, 2011, in the Quarterfinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament against an opponent to be determined at a site and time also to be determined.
