CENTER VALLEY, PA - The College at Florham Devils opened up a 4-0 lead after the first quarter but had to hang on to beat DeSales, 5-4, in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 7-5 (5-3 MAC) while the Bulldogs dropped to 2-9 (2-5 MAC).

FDU got off to exactly the start they were looking for, scoring the first five goals of the game to grab a 5-0 lead with 11:02 left in the second quarter.  Sophomore attack Cody McHugh scored two goals in the first quarter to pace the Devils in the run.  DeSales finally got on the board with 8:17 to go in the second quarter to make it 5-1 and the score remained that way heading into halftime.

DeSales scored the lone goal of the third quarter and really made things interesting late in the fourth as they closed to 5-3 with 4:34 left to play.  They then made it 5-4 only 0:50 later but the Devils regained their composure and were able to run out the clock for the win.

McHugh finished the game with two goals while senior attack Drew Canfield, junior midfielder Paul Colflesh, and freshman midfielder Billy Deignan each scored one goal.  Deignan also dominated the face-offs, winning 9-of-12.  Freshman goalkeeper Dino Vitale picked up the win, making eight saves.

The Devils return to action on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at home against cross-town rival Drew beginning at 4 pm.
