READING, PA - The College at Florham Devils used goals from eight different players, with freshman attack
Brian Gill (Levittown, NY/East Meadow) leading the way with three, to beat Alvernia by a score of 12-5 in Middle Atlantic Conference action on Thursday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 3-4 (2-1 MAC) while the Crusaders dropped to 3-6 (0-2 MAC).
FDU opened the game scorching hot, notching five goals in the first quarter and three goals in the second quarter to take an 8-0 halftime lead. The first half was highlighted by two goals apiece from Gill and junior attackers
Drew Canfield (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and
Will Stark (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia).
Alvernia trimmed the gap to 8-3 with 6:26 left in the third quarter but Gill and freshman attack
Cory Weiss (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) made it 10-3 by the end of the third. Each team scored two goals in the fourth quarter as the Devils moved above .500 in the conference.
Gill and Stark each also added an assist while sophomore midfielder
Paul Colflesh (Moorestown, NJ/Holy Cross) finished with a goal and an assist. Senior goalkeeper
Alex Kajencki (Medfield, MA/Xaverian) started and played the first half, allowing no goals and making three saves to pick up the win.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Misericordia beginning at 7 pm.
