HAVERFORD, PA - Leading 5-3 entering halftime, #8 Haverford won the second half by a score of 9-3 on their way to a 14-6 win over the College at Florham Devils in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-3 on the season.
After Haverford got on the board first, the Devils reeled off three straight goals to grab a 3-1 lead with 13:01 left in the second quarter. Sophomore midfielder
Adam Koontz (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson) scored off a feed from sophomore midfielder
Pat O'Brien (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central), then O'Brien scored off a pass from junior attack
Drew Canfield (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) with a man advantage before senior attack
Kevin Shadiack (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) finished off the trifecta by scoring with a man down. Haverford scored the last four goals of the half, the fourth coming with 0:01 remaining, to take a 5-3 lead into intermission.
Haverford kept their streak going to start the second half by scoring the first three goals to grab an 8-3 edge before junior attack
Will Stark (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) cut it to 8-4 with 7:47 left in the third quarter. Haverford responded with two straight to make it 10-4 before freshman attack
Brian Gill (Levittown, NY/East Meadow) made it 10-5 with 0:13 to play in the third. Haverford really put the game away in the early stages of the fourth quarter as they scored three straight to make it 13-5 with 6:45 left in the game. Canfield made it 13-6 just 0:08 later but the Devils couldn't muster any more offense and Haverford ran out the clock.
Canfield, Koontz and O'Brien all finished with a goal and an assist while senior goalkeeper
