RADNOR, PA - The College at Florham Devils opened up the 2010 season with a 16-7 loss to #12 Cabrini in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 0-1.
Cabrini scored five of the first six goals of the contest to take a 5-1 lead with 13:54 left in the second quarter. Sophomore midfielder
Jake Wunsch (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) scored off a feed from sophomore midfielder
Pat O'Brien (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) to make it 5-2 with 10:51 remaining in the half but the Cavaliers scored the next four goals to grab a 9-2 advantage with 6:44 to go. Each team scored twice more in the second to make the halftime margin 11-4 in favor of Cabrini.
Wunsch scored and assisted on a goal by senior attack
Kevin Shadiack (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) as the Devils scored three goals in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 13-7 heading into fourth. That's as close as they would get though as Cabrini scored all three goals in the fourth quarter to earn the 13-7 win.
Shadiack finished the game with three goals while Wunsch recorded two goals and an assist. Sophomore midfielder
Paul Colflesh (Moorestown, NJ/Holy Cross) notched the other FDU goal. Senior midfielder
Taylor Evans (Easton, PA/Easton) went 7-for-14 on faceoffs while senior goalkeeper
Alex Kajencki (Medfield, MA/Xaverian) had 13 saves.
The Devils return to action on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at USMMA beginning at 1 pm.
