MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham athletics department and Director of Athletics Kristin Giotta are happy to announce the hiring of Steve Leo as the next head coach for the Devils' track & field and cross-country teams.
Leo comes to FDU after spending three seasons as the assistant track & field coach at Madison Ave rival Drew University. Known for his proven ability to build championship programs and develop athletes at every level, Leo brings an extensive track record in coaching, performance training, and program leadership to FDU-Florham. During his tenure with the Rangers, he served as both the sprints and jumps coach as well as the strength and conditioning coach. He coached multiple individual Landmark Conference champions, including three NCAA national qualifiers and two All-Americans.
"We didn't need to look far for an amazing hire for FDU Devils Athletics as we found him in Steve Leo!" said Giotta. "Steve's knowledge and expertise will be an enormous asset to our athletes as well as his partnerships and connections in the surrounding area and region. There is no doubt he will do a phenomenal job at FDU!"
Before being well-acquainted with Madison Ave., Leo served as the Director of Strength and Conditioning and was the head track & field coach at Gill St. Bernard's School in Gladstone, N.J. While there, Leo helped lead his teams to seven state championships between both soccer and lacrosse. As the head track & field coach, Leo coached two Meet of Champions winners, oversaw the enhancement of the school's track & field facility and guided over 20 athletes to compete at the collegiate level.
Leo is also the owner and operator of Leo Training Systems and the Parisi Speed School in Rockaway, N.J. Under his leadership, the Parisi Speed School earned the national Facility of the Year Award in 2014, and Leo himself was recognized with the Parisi Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
Leo lives in Rockaway, N.J. with his wife Michelle and their daughters Samantha, a collegiate track and field athlete at Ursinus College, and Maggie, a high school and club swimmer.
