Five from Baseball Earn Their First CSC Academic All-District Honors

Madison, N.J. (June 3)- As announced from the College of Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday afternoon, The FDU-Florham Devils Baseball program saw five of their student-athletes earn CSC Academic All-District team this year.
 
Representing on the field and in the classroom were seniors Aaron Santos (Bridgewater, NJ), Mark Geist (Middlesex, NJ), and Colby Craig (Chester, NJ), along with juniors Chris Kaponis (Burlington Twp., NJ) and Parker Muratore (Branchburg, NJ).
 
Santos posted a 3.53 GPA in finance and was named to the All-MAC Freedom Second Team for his performance this season. The senior gave an effort of a .338 batting average, accounting for 48 hits, 30 RBI, and 28 runs scored. In the field, he was nearly perfect with a .948 percentage through all 39 games he played. He recorded his 100th career hit against St. Joseph's Brooklyn on April 1st. This is his first CSC Academic All-District honor.

Along with accomplishing a 3.91 cumulative GPA, Craig earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor after pitching 27.2 innings in 23 games for a 3.90 ERA and 2-0 record. Along with his 17 strikeouts on the year, he captured program records for most appearances in a season (23) and most career appearances (63).
 
Geist earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor with a work ethic seen on the field and in the classroom, as he ended the school year with a 3.54 cumulative GPA. He was behind the plate for 35 games and produced a .266 batting average along with 29 hits, 31 runs, and 42 RBI. During the MAC Freedom match-up against Misericordia, he managed 5 RBIs and a home run in the win.
 
With a 3.54 cumulative GPA, Kaponis excelled in the classroom as well as the field. The junior earned his first CSC Academic All-District honor with a 5.64 ERA over 44.2 innings. He accounted for over 50 strikeouts and pitched a complete game against Misericordia on April 13, while throwing a game-high of nine strikeouts in the MAC Freedom sweep against Delaware Valley.
 
In his debut season for FDU, Muratore made his mark not only on the field with 40 hits, 33 runs, and 17 RBI but did so in the classroom with a perfect 3.38 GPA. The transfer junior was submitted into the lineup in 39 games while starting in 38 total. He went perfect from the batter's box in two games, going 4 for 4 with two runs and 3 for 3 with four runs and one RBI, both against DeSales. He was named MAC Freedom Player of the Week during the second week of April.
