Newtown, Pa. (May 12)- The FDU-Florham baseball team saw achievements for three of its athletes as members of this year's All-MAC Freedom team as announced by the conference office on Monday morning.
Headlining the list for the Devils were
Jack Giovenco (Allentown, Pa.) and
Aaron Santos (Bridgewater, N.J.), both as members of the All-MAC Second Team, and
Alex DeSimone (Long Valley, NJ) as an All-MAC Honorable Mention.
Giovenco started in all 40 games for the second year in a row as a Devil. He finished the season with a .350 batting average, 50 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, and one home run, which was a grand slam against DeSales on April 5
th. He put his body on the line all season, leading the MAC Freedom in hit by pitches with 28 of them. Giovenco knocked in 32 RBIs, while also scoring 45 runs himself. He walked 16 times, and was tied third for the most stolen bases in the conference with 22 of them. A stand out moment for Giovenco was earning his 100
th hit as a Devil at DeSales on April 4
th. In the field, Giovenco, was nearly spotless, hosting a .961 fielding percentage with 49 of his 51 putouts attempted being converted. Giovenco earned was named as the MAC Freedom baseball player of the week for his performances from February 25
th- March 2
nd. This is Giovenco's first time as a member of an All-MAC team.
Santos was the starter in his position for all 39 games that he appeared in. He holds a .338 batting average, with 48 hits, 13 doubles, four triples, and three home runs. He equaled his total from last season with 30 RBIs, and scored two more runs with 28 of them. He reached base on a walk 23 times, and stole 11 bases, which was a career high for him. A signature moment for Santos this season was also joining the 100 hit club for FDU history, earning the honor on April 1
st against St. Joseph's – Brooklyn. In the field, after being converted into a shortstop, Santos held an impressive .948 field percentage, with assisting or putting out runners himself 147 times this season. This is Santos's second time as a member of an All-MAC team, making it in 2024 as well.
Last but certainly not least, DeSimone was a mighty force both as a starter and in the bullpen for the Devils this season. He starts from the Devils in two of his 17 appearances, but made those appearances count with a 4-0 record, earning wins against St. Joseph's Brooklyn, and MAC Freedom opponents in King's, DeSales, and defending national champions Misericordia. He pitched for 34.1 innings this season, and struck out 25 batters, this most of his time as a FDU Devil. A standout performance from this season was against Arcadia on March 21
st, where he earned six strikeouts that day. In the field, although not having many balls hit to him, he eight of nine assists and putouts, earning a .889 fielding percentage. This is DeSimone's first time as a member of the all All-MAC team.
The Devils improved this season from 2024, finishing with a 17-23 record and a 9-12 record in the MAC Freedom for 2025.
