Collegeville, PA (April 5)- The FDU-Florham Men's Track and Field team was prepared to go the distance when partaking in the Ursinus Track & Field festival, and completed their vision with three more program records.
First year
Richie Welton (Middletown, NJ) started the 100m dash and the meet for the Devils with a time of 11.86 for 40
th overall. Taking a placement of 54
th overall was Navir Gandy as his first event for the Devils resulted in a time of 12.08.
Francisco Tanez (West Orange, NJ) was the one to close the event as he clocked a 12.31 for 62
nd place.
Crossing the line first in the 200m dash was
Nathaniel Evely (Bogota, NJ), whose time placed him at the top of the records books for a new school record (23.00, 23
rd overall) Next across the line was
Lucas Sorrentino (Staten Island, NY) who took 56
th overall (24.36) and Welton followed for 58th overall (24.58).
Sorrentino was one of two Devils to participate in the 400m as he finished with a time of 53.59 and 31
st overall, as
Nathaniel Perrelli (Fanwood, NJ) followed just behind for a time of 55.42, taking 46
th fastest time in the event.
Putting forth their best effort in the 400m hurdles was
Shane Breedlove (Richmond, VA) and
Norbert Martinez (Roxbury, NJ). They were both seen improving their times from the previous meet by crossing the line for times of 1:02.84 (19
th overall) and 1:09.92 (25
th overall).
Leading the first distance event for the FDU was
Luke Passarelli (Brick, NJ). The sophomore recorded a new school record in the 800m with a time of 2:07.05.
Beckett Burcat (Basking Ridge, NJ) closed the event with a time of 2:16.55, which marked a personal record.
Burcat led the next distance event, 1500m, with a time of 4:48.76, which placed him as the fourth-best time ever recorded in program history.
Evan McGinnity was seen behind in 18
th place with a time of 17:05.69.
One of the final individual track events for FDU was the 5000m, as
Emmanuel Torode (Roxbury, NJ) set the third record of the day with a time of 16:41.91, 20 seconds faster than the previous record. McGinnity also participated in the event and crossed the line with a placement of 18
th overall (17:05.69).
The final track event for FDU-Florham as a whole was the 4x100m Relay and 4x400m Relay. The 100m relay gave a better showing as the result placed them 14
th overall with a time of 45.01. The 4x400m team finished with a time of 3:48.54 for 23
rd in the meet.
Capping the full day of events for the Devils was
Joseph Teresi (Ocean Twp, NJ), who once again broke his own school record with a throw of 42.77m in the discus. He finished his final event for the meet with a 15.00m throw in the shot put.
FDU-Florham has a short amount of time to prepare for its next meet occurring on Thursday, April 10 and going till Sunday, April 12. The Devils look to participate in the TCNJ Invitational and Multi.
