Kutztown, PA (February 21)- The FDU-Florham Men's Track & Field team took to the Golden Bear Invitational, hosted by Kutztown, for a chance at the final regular season qualifying marks for MAC Championships. Only one qualification mark was met during the meet.
Lucas Sorrentino (Staten Island, NY) was the only Devil to have a MAC Qualification mark. His time of 7.28 in the 55m prelims earned him a set to next weekend's championships but was not good enough to push him to the second round of the event as he took 14 overall.
Along with Sorrentino, three other Devils competed in the 200m including
Francisco Tanez (West Orange, NJ),
Shane Breedlove (Richmond, Va.) and
Jason Nonnenmacher ( Staten Island, NY). Sorrentino was the top finish for the Devil in the event as he took 6
th with a time of 25.16. Tanez followed with 8
th overall and a time of 25.51, with Breedlove trailing for 11
th (26.40) and Nonnenmacher closing with 13
th overall (27.82).
Breedlove was also seen in the 400m. He finished his second event with a flat 59.00 for 7
th in the invitational.
Competing in the 800m was
Norbert Martinez (Roxbury, NJ) who finished with a time of 2:23.59 for 4
th overall.
Rounding out the entire for the Devils were
Evan McGinnity and
Beckett Burcat (Basking Ridge) in the 1 mile. McGinnity took the top team time of 5:04.89 fir 13
th place. Burcat was only two placements behind (15
th) with a time of 5:33.11.
FDU-Florham will now look to the MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships with those who have made qualifying marks this season, on Friday, February 28. Events are set to start at 1:30pm.
