York, PA (February 13) – On Day 1 of the MAC Championships, The FDU-Florham Women's Swimming team totaled 154 points, placing them in 5
th out of 10 teams, with one Devil coming in one placement of a medal.
Magda Konopka (Paramus, NJ) took the top finish of the day for the Devils as she "medaled" In the prelims of the 50 free with a 3
rd place finish (24.49) which broke her own school record, and then claimed an official podium spot of 4
th overall in the A finals (24.74).
Jessica Mooney (Cranford, N.J.) took her mark in the prelims of the 500 free but was not able to account for a proper finish due to a false start being recorded. She finished her event through the disqualification with a 5:57.83.
Katelyn Plank (Bridgewater, N.J.) was the only other Devil of the day to finish on the podium as the 50 free also held a podium finish of 4
th in the prelims (24.92), with an overall time in the finals of 25.10 for 7
th in the year's championship.
Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, NJ) held a consistent performance in the 200 IM as she took 10
th in the prelims (2:19.92) and 10
th again in the B finals (2:16.61).
Olivia Glenfield (Howell, MI) was behind her teammate for to 200 IM as she claimed 9
th in the prelims by recording a time of 2:18.21 and swim in the final with a time of 2:21.42 for 13
th overall.
Lauren Stone (Middletown, NJ),
Caitlyn Kramaritsch (Roxbury, NJ),
Ashley Smith (Tinton Falls, NJ) all swam in the 50 free prelims. Unfortunately, none was able to reach the finals as Stone finished in 26
th (26.63), Kramaritsch took 29
th (27.16), and Smith followed with 33
rd (27.40).
FDU qualified two 200 Medley relay teams. The first consisted of Plank, Glenfield, Fazzio, and Konopka who stood on the podium for 5
th with a time of 1:53.14. The second quartet was made up of Stone,
Shalma Lopez (Union City, NJ), Olivia Case (Cream Ridge, NJ), and
Isabel Thierman (Belmar, NJ) who swam as fast as they could for 15
th overall and a time of 2:04.54.
Day 2 events will include the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 200 free relay and 200 medley relay. The individual events will have their preliminary rounds starting at 9:30am and the top 21 times from the morning session will advance to the finals session at 5:30pm. The relay teams will compete in the evening session.
