Reading, PA (February 1)- The FDU-Florham Men's Track and Field Team started out the new month with a strong showing at the PLEX Shootout, hosted by Alvernia, as the Devils had 13 compete in over 10 combined events and even captured a school record in the Distance Medly Relay.
Sophomore,
Ty Wagner (Wappingers Fall, N.Y.), was the only Devil to compete in the 60m. He clocked a 7.79 for overall 79th place.
Multiple Devils competed in the 200m event but
Nathaniel Evely (Bogota, NJ) was the first to cross the line with the top time as he came in 17th overall with a time of 23.95 and good enough to ensure to meet the MAC Championship qualification mark.
Lucas Sorrentino (Staten Island, NY) next as he finished in 44th (25.37),
Luke Passarelli (Brick, NJ) in 47th (25.37),
Francisco Tanez ( West Orange, NJ) in 52nd (25.98), and
Jason Nonnenmacher ( Staten Island, NY) rounding up the event for the Devil in 64th overall (28.57).
Competing in the 400m for the Devils was junior,
Shane Breedlove (Richmond, Va.) who broke the line with a time of 59.76 for 29th overall.
Norbert Martinez (Roxbury, NJ) ran in the 800m and went around the circuit twice for a time of 2:226.08 and a placement of 45th in the meet.
Running their four laps in the 1-mile event,
Emmanuel Torode (Roxbury, NJ) led the Devil squad with a 5:04.97 for 35th and
Beckett Burcat ( Basking Ridge, NJ) finished with a 5:19.96 for 37th and a personal record.
Taking the track its distance was
Evan McGinnity who finished with a 10:01.30 and a placement of 31st.
Competing in the 4x200m Relay was Evely, Tanez,
Nathaniel Perrelli (Fanwood, NJ), and Presley, who clocked a time good enough to finish at the 10th place with a time of 1:39.93. A school record was set in the Distance Medley Relay as Torode, Breedlove, Passarelli, and McGinnity finished on the podium for 3rd with a time of 11:49.34.
Joseph Teresi (Ocean Twp, NJ) was the only field athlete to record a mark for the Devils as he threw 13.66m in the Shot Put and took 6th overall.
FDU-Florham will travel to Staten Island for the Big Apple Invitational on Saturday, February 8. Events are scheduled to start at 4pm.
