DeVries Becomes New Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis

Madison, N.J. (September 6)- The FDU Devils Athletic Department and Director of Athletics Kristin Giotta are excited to announce the hiring of David DeVries, who becomes the new Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach effective immediately. DeVries becomes the 17th coach in program history.

"We are excited that Coach DeVries has taken over the reins with our tennis programs." Giotta said. "He is a bright, young coach with an intense passion for the sport. Our tennis student-athletes are extremely lucky to have the opportunity to learn under his leadership and we are excited for the future of FDU Tennis!"

DeVries enters his first stint as a collegiate head coach after serving as a High Performance Tennis Coach at both the CourtSense Training Center (2022-2024) and Centercourt Tennis Academy (2020-2022) for the past four years. While serving as a High-Performance Tennis Coach, he spent between 40-50 hours a week providing private lessons or clinic coaching. He also had the opportunity to work with various Division I tennis players that included those that play for the University of North Carolina, Boise State, Charleston Southern and the Fairleigh Dickinson University's Teaneck campus student-athletes. He also got experience teaching at all experience levels of tennis from red ball to high performance to adult programs.

Before his time at CourtSense and Centercourt, he was a tennis coach at the River-winds Golf and Tennis Club for two years (2018-2020). He started at River-winds as a free lance tennis coach, giving 6-8 lessons a day during the summer months before he was upgraded to the club's pro and began instructing high school players and junior players in private and group sessions.

David also spent four years as the Head Tennis Coach at the Green Pond Corporation during the summers of 2014 to 2018. While there, he coordinated with fellow tennis coaches to schedule and oversee youth tennis matches and practices four days a week. He also ran private lessons for students and held adult tennis clinics.
"I've always had interest in becoming a college tennis coach." DeVries states "I am grateful to be a part of the program here at FDU and very excited for the journey ahead with the men's and women's teams"
