Box Score Madison, N.J. (April 14)- The FDU-Florham men's tennis team (1-7, 1-2 MAC Free) picked up their first win of the season as they defeated Misericordia (1-10, 0-4 MAC Free), 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Fairleigh Dickinson went up 2-1 after the doubles portion of the match.
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, N.J.) with
Matthew Emery (Howell, N.J.) were victorious in Doubles #1 against Dalton Alexander and Mikey Dylina, 8-0.
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, N.J.) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwayne, Pa.) downed Derek Burcik and Chase Cavanaugh, 8-1 in Doubles #2. The Cougars avoided the sweep with a win in Doubles #3 as Chrstian Mazza and Noah Ceklosky defeated
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and
Arman Ali, 8-4
The Devils got four more wins during the singles portion of the match to take a 6-1 win. The Singles #5 match between Andresen and Mazza as well as the Singles #6 match between Ali and Hunter Wesolowski did not finish due to weather conditions.
In Singles #1, Emery bested Alexander (6-1, 6-3), Duval defeated Cavanaugh in Singles #2 (6-2, 6-2), Liwag downed Dylina in Singles #3 (6-3, 6-2) and Schwartz took down Burcik in Singles #4 (6-1, 6-1).
FDU-Florham will continue with MAC Freedom play on Wednesday, April 17 as the Devils host nationally ranked #50 Stevens for a match starting at 4:00pm
