James Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) broke the school record in the 200 IM twice in one day as the FDU-Florham men's swimming team currently sits in tenth out of 14 teams after day one of the MAC Championship.
Dougherty's preliminary swim broke his previous record that he set last season (2:00.39), swimming a 1:59.91 that finished 12th overall in the field and earned him a spot in the consolation finals. He then shaved 1.89 seconds off his preliminary time to set the new FDU 200 IM record at 1:58.84 and finish third in the consolation finals and was the 11th best time overall in the event tonight.
First year
Michael Bang (Roxbury, NJ) placed put himself in the B group finals of the 500 free with a time of 5:01.34 which was 5.34 seconds better than his seed time. During the B finals he was able to go under five minutes for the first time this season, touching the wall at the 4:57.51 mark which placed him seventh in consolation final.
Jackson Standridge (Warren, NJ) earned a spot in the C final of the 500 free, clocking a time of 5:10.78 that shaved 7.90 seconds off his seed time. During the C final, he swam just over a second faster with a time of 5:09.71 and finished seventh in the C final and 24th overall.
The 200 medley relay team consisting of
AJ Vicidomini (Howell, NJ), Standridge,
Edward Danza, and Bang finished 14th in the field with a group time of 1:51.11.
Tomorrow at 9:30 am, FDU will compete in the prelims of the 400-IM, 100-fly and 200-free. Those who qualify will compete in the finals of those event tomorrow evening at 5:30 pm in addition to the timed finals of the 200-free relay and the 400-medley relay.
