Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (September 26) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team competed at the King's College Invitational this weekend and saw five student-athletes reach the championship final in singles action.
At No. 1 singles, senior
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) fell in his quarterfinal matchup to Josh Sanderson of Susquehanna University, 6-1, 6-1.
At No. 2 singles, junior
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) reached the semifinal round after a walkover in the quarterfinal. He matched up with Patrick Pech of King's in the semis, but fell by a score of 7-5, 3-1.
At No. 3 singles, sophomore
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) reached the championship final after a 1-6, 7-6 (6-0), 10-5 win over Shiel Loganadan of Manhattanville College and a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jason Anderson of Lycoming. The final matchup was canceled due to rain.
At No. 4 singles, first-year
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, NJ) reached the championship final after a 6-7 (0-4), 6-0, 10-6 win over Dylan Crowley of Manhattanville College and a 6-2, 6-3 win over Thomas Hallahan of Susquehanna University. The final matchup was canceled due to rain.
At No. 5 singles, sophomore
Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) reached the semifinal round after a 6-4, 6-2 win over Logan Ogden of Penn College. The semifinal and final matchups were canceled due to rain.
At No. 6 singles, sophomore
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) reached the championship final after a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sal Sullivan of the University of Scranton and a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jacob Nelson of King's College. The final matchup was canceled due to rain.
At No. 7 singles, junior
Quinn Carmody (Hingham, Mass.) reached the championship final after a 6-0, 6-1 win over Dylan Ceprish of Penn College. The final matchup was canceled due to rain.
At No. 1 doubles, Emery and Duval reached the semifinals after an 8-3 win over Max Lauver and Isaac Reichenbach of Elizabethtown but fell by an 8-4 final to Josh Sanderson and John Duncan of Susquehanna in the semis.
At No. 2 doubles, Carasso and Liwag topped Cody Zheng and Mohamed Ebeid of Lycoming, 8-1 in the quarterfinals, but fell to Dylan Crowley and Max Moeller of Manhattanville, 8-5 in the semifinals.
At No. 3 doubles, Andresen and Saini fell to Shel Loganadan and Derwin Guzman of Manhattanville, 8-4, in the quarterfinals.
FDU-Florham will wrap up its fall season on Thursday, October 6 with a non-conference dual match at Moravian at 4:00 pm.
