Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (November 4) – The FDU-Florham men's swimming team registered nine qualifying times for the 2023 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship on Friday evening in a tri-meet with league rivals King's College (Pa.) and Lebanon Valley College.
The Devils were edged by both King's (90-78) and Lebanon Valley College (99-89) in tonight's double dual and now sit a 1-3 in dual meets this season.
Senior
James Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) led the way for the Devils with a pair of first place finishes and a pair of MAC qualifying times. Dougherty touched the wall first in the 100-free in 50.61 and first in the 100-breast in 1:03.74.
First-year
AJ Vicidomini (Howell, NJ) was the only other Devil to win an individual event tonight as he touched the wall first in the 100-back in a MAC qualifying time of 1:02.55. Vicidomini also registered a runner up finish in the 200-IM with a qualifying time of 2:13.79 and teamed up with Dougherty,
Michael Bang (Succasunna, NJ) and
Jack Hulsart (Old Bridge, NJ) for a runner-up finish in the 200-free relay in 1:38.56.
Bang and first-year
Jackson Standridge (Warren, NJ) both registered MAC qualifying times in the 500-free as Bang touched the wall second in 5:26.11, while Standridge touched the wall fourth in 5:28.71.
Standridge also tallied MAC qualifying times in the 200-IM (third – 2:18.63) and the 100-breast (third – 1:08.51), while Hulsart notched a MAC qualifying time in the 100-fly with his fourth place finish in 1:01.38.
FDU-Florham will return to the poll in two weeks when the Devils travel to Maryland for a tri-meet at Stevenson University with the host Mustangs and Gallaudet University beginning at 2:30 pm on November 19.
