Owings Mills, Md. (November 19) – The FDU-Florham men's swimming team split its third tri-meet of the fall semester this afternoon against host Stevenson University and Gallaudet University.
The Devils topped Gallaudet by a 105-41 score, but fell to the host Mustangs, 126-60. In total, FDU-Florham tallied eight qualifying times for the 2023 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship in today's meet.
Individually, both
Michael Bang (Succasunna, NJ) and
James Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) posted victories this afternoon in their respective events. Bang touched the wall first in the 500-free in a time of 5:17.24, while Dougherty won the 50-free in 22.86. Bang and Dougherty teamed up with
AJ Vicidomini (Howell, NJ) and
Jack Hulsart (Old Bridge, NJ) for a win in the 400-free relay in a time of 3:37.31.
Bang went on to finish third in the 400-IM with a qualifying time of 4:53.62, while Dougherty finished second in the 200-breast in a qualifying time of 2:23.01 and Vicidomini finished second in the 200-back in a qualifying time of 2:18.53 and fourth in the 200-IM in 2:19.31. Meanwhile, Hulsart touched the wall second in the 200-fly in a qualifying time of 2:27.00 and fourth in the 200-free in 2:03.55.
First-year
Jackson Standridge (Warren, NJ) posted a pair of MAC Championship qualifying times this afternoon as he finished third in the 500-free in 5:28.00 and fourth in the 200-breast in 2:30.47. Classmate
Edward Danza rounded out the highlights for FDU-Florham today as he placed fifth in the 100-free in 1:03.10 and sixth in both the 200-free (2:26.24) and the 50-free (29.60).
FDU-Florham will have a couple of weeks off before heading down Madison Avenue for the Drew University Invitational. Day one of the meet is scheduled for Friday, December 2.
