Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (October 22) – FDU-Florham men's swimming senior
James Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) paced the Devils in the team's season-opening tri-meet with Wilkes University and Messiah University this afternoon.
In the tri-meet, Messiah University finished first with 154 points, FDU-Florham was second with 36 points and Wilkes University was third with 13 points.
Dougherty individually registered two qualifying times for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship and was the lone victor for the Devils with his first place finish in the 100-free (51.17). The other qualifying time for the senior was in the 50-free as he finished as the runner-up in a time of 23.26.
Dougherty teamed up with first-year
AJ Vicidomini (Howell, NJ), first-year
Eric Bang (Succasunna, NJ) and senior
Jack Hulsart (Old Bridge, NJ) for a second place finish in the 400-medley relay with a time of 4:03.83.
Vicidomini posted a MAC Championship qualifying time in the 200-IM with his swim of 2:12.97 for third place in the event.
Hulsart's best finish came in the 200-free as he touched the wall second in 2:04.40, while Bang took third in the 1000-free in 11:21.97.
In his collegiate debut, first-year
Jackson Standridge (Warren, NJ) had his best placement of fourth in the 100-breast with a time of 1:10.19, while
Edward Danza placed seventh in all three events he swam today in his first meet with the Devils at the college level.
FDU-Florham will head back to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. in a couple of weeks for a tri-meet at King's College. Fellow MAC rival Lebanon Valley University will swim alongside the Devils and Monarchs in the meet.
