Annville, Pa. (January 23) – The FDU-Florham women's swimming team closed its 2021-22 regular season this afternoon at Lebanon Valley College. The Devils won eight of 11 events contested and defeated the Dutchmen by a 110-93 final score. Note that all times and results from this meet were recorded in short course meters, not short course yards.
Sarah Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) and
Julianna Fazzio (Glassboro, NJ) paced the Devils with wins in three events this afternoon. The duo began their day alongside
Paige Strangeway (Green Township, NJ) and
Liz Briles (Glassboro, NJ) for first place in the 200-medley relay with a time of 2:17.44 and went on to individually win the 200-free in 2:24.73 and the 100-back in 1:11.93. Fazzio went on to win the 200-IM in 2:37.26 and the 100-fly in 1:11.36.
FDU swept the top three places in the 800-free as
Emma Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ) won the event in 10:41.09 and was followed by
Mikayla DiMarco (Bayville, NJ) in second in 11:06.58 and
Sarah Jurimas (Delran, NJ) in third in 11:18.08. Jurimas was also able to capture the 400-free in a time of 5:23.41.
Briles placed first in the 100-free in 1:07.14 and second in the 50-free in 30.06, while Strangeway posted a runner up finish in the 100-breast in a time of 1:31.52.
E. Dougherty, Jurimas,
Gianna Ritto (Hainesport, NJ) and DeMarco capped the day with a second place finish in the 200-free relay in a time of 2:12.39.
FDU rounded out its dual meet schedule with a record of 5-1 and will next compete in three weeks in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship scheduled for February 10-13.
