Top Ten Stories of 2021: #7- "Lapham Wins ECAC Title; Earns Highest Ever Finish in Program History at MAC's"

Madison, NJ (December 28) – This marks the final week of 2021 and all week will be revealing our top ten stories of the year. Today's #7 story highlights women's cross country senior Bridget Lapham (West Hempstead, NY) who individually won the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and earned the highest ever finish for the program at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship.

Lapham claimed the individual title and led the Devils to a third place overall finish at the ECAC Division III Championship at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome. As a team, Saint Joseph's (LI) won the meet with 24 points, while Vassar College finished second with 77 points and FDU-Florham took third with 87 points.
 
Lapham won the individual championship at the ECAC meet with a time of 26:26.6, which was 7.9 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Sophomore Mary Griffin (Ridgefield, NJ) crossed the line sixth overall in 26:59.8, while senior Clare Posillico (Baldwin, NY) finished in 15th with a time of 27:59.2. 

Over the course of the season, Lapham led the women's cross country team to three team championship titles including the season opening meet at Cairn, the team's first ever Battle of Madison Avenue and the Mount Saint Mary's Invitational. 

Lapham also registered the highest individual finish in program history and earned Second Team All-Conference accolades at today's Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship meet. As a team, the Devils finished 13th overall with 327 points. Misericordia University won the team title with 68 points, while Widener University finished second (110) and Lebanon Valley College finished third (118). Lapham crossed the line in 19th with her time of 24:46.8. For her efforts, Lapham was placed on the All-MAC Second Team and became the highest individual finisher for the Devils since Corinne Boucher took 23rd place at the 2017 MAC Championship.
