Madison, NJ (October 23) – In the first dual meet of the 2021-22 season, the FDU-Florham men's swimming and diving team edged Wilkes University by an 89-85 final score. Individually, three devils won two individual events leading FDU to the victory in the pool.

FDU began its day with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay as Jack Hulsart (Old Bridge, NJ), James Dougherty (Kinnelon, NJ), Jacob Grusemeyer (Salem, NJ) and Anthony Muschiatti (Rahway, NJ) recorded a time of 1:48.75. 
 
Hulsart went on to individually win the 1000-free with a time of 12:12.61 and the 100-back in a time of 1:03.14, while Dougherty touched the wall first in the 100-breast with the fastest time in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) this season in 1:02.74 and the 200-IM in a time of 2:10.52.
 
Muschiatti claimed first place in the 200-free with a time of 2:03.02 and he led the Devils to a 1-2 finish in the 100-free with his time of 53.18. Behind Muschiatti in the 100-free was A-Izaiah Bryant with a time of 53.79.
 
"Today marked the first in person meet at FDU in over a year and you could tell the energy was there," said head coach Rich Palm. "From the teams and the crowd, the pool deck was filled with excitement. This excitement led to wins for both the men and the women. It also led to some very fast times to start off the year. I am looking forward to our next few weeks of practice in order to improve on these times for our meet November 13th."
 
The Devils put together a total of six qualifying times for the MAC Championship including Bryant in the 50-free and 100-free, Dougherty in the 200-IM and 100-breast, Hulsart in the 100-back and Muschiatti in the 100-free.
 
FDU will have a few weeks off before its next dual meet which is scheduled for Saturday, November 13 at Mount Saint Mary's (NY).
