FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 14, 2019) - The FDU-Florham baseball team was knocked off by Rockford University 8-0 in their final game in Florida Friday morning.
The Devils dropped to 4-5 on the season while posting a 4-4 mark in the Sunshine State.
Sophomore
Joseph Kastner started for the Devils and allowed just one baserunner in the first off a single. The Regents broke through for a tally in the second, but the damage was limited on a heads-up defensive play. After a runner scored, catcher
Jonathan Biale fired to the third baseman to get the runner trying to take an extra base on the throw.
Sophomore
Nate Peacock laced a one-out double in the third and moved 90 feet closer on a fly ball out. Peacock was left on third after a strikeout for the third out of the frame. Rockford padded their lead in the fourth, adding three runs. FDU had runners on second and third after a single from freshman
Tyler McCulloch and a double by junior
Michael Tufano, but they were unable to push the run across.
The Regents added three additional runs, including an unearned tally, in the bottom of the fourth to grab a 7-0 lead. Peacock once again got on base, singling with one out. The sophomore moved into scoring thanks to a walk by freshman
Brian Schnack. That would be as far as they would get, with a fly out to right field heading the stanza. Rockford closed out the scoring in the sixth, scoring on a double.
