WAYNE, N.J. (November 2, 2019) – The FDU women's swim team was topped by William Paterson University 109-90 Saturday afternoon.
The Devils started the afternoon off strong, winning the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome of Joshua Atkins, James Dougherty,
Justin Atkins, and
Anthony Muschiatti finished in 1:49.67. Junior
Eric Bang took first in three events, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:16.05), the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.16), and the 200-yard IM (2:09.42).
The Atkins brothers went 2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle, with Joshua touching the wall in 1:59.44 and Justin in 2:01.01.
Justin Atkins also claimed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.18 while Joshua was second in 1:01.86 during the 100-yard backstroke. Dougherty was second behind Bang in the 200-IM before notching a first-place time of 1:06.74 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Rookie John Hulsart was third in the 100-yard backstroke and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Muschiatti was second in the 100-free (53.32) and the 50-free (24.02). The Devils quartet of Hulsart, sophomores
Chris Kunka and
James Butcher along with junior
Juan Melendez placed second in the 200-freestyle relay with a mark of 1:52.27 to close out the afternoon.
