ANNVILLE, Pa. (January 12, 2019) - The FDU-Florham men's swim team notched its second consecutive win with a 107-58 triumph over Lebanon Valley Saturday.
FDU opened the afternoon strong, picking up a first place time of 2:07.19 in the 200-medley relay. The foursome included sophomores
Josh Atkins and
Eric Bang, junior
Michael Illick and senior
Nicholas DiBenedetto.DiBenedetto and freshman
James Butcher claimed the top two spots in the 800-freestyle, as the senior touched the wall in 9:33.32.
Bang earned a first place time of 2:04.63 in the 200-free before taking an additional first place in the 100-butterfly. The sophomore notched a time 1:05.77, with Atkins placing second four seconds later. Freshman
Anthony Muschiatti tallied four points with a second place time of 27.97 in the 50-free, with classmate
Chris Kunka nabbing an additional point in the event.
Illick registered the top-spot in both the 200-IM (2:37.31) and the 100-breaststroke (1:18.93). Muschiatti won his first career event, winning the 100-freestyle by a mere .32 seconds. Kunka and sophomore
Juan Melendez combined to score three points in the event as well. Butcher won the 100-backstroke, finishing first by 13 seconds.
DiBenedetto and Atkins closed out the individual events by going 1-2 in the 400-freestyle. The senior took the event with a time of 4:36.79. The team nabbed second place in the closing event, the 200-freestyle relay. The quartet of Muschiatti, Butcher, Kunka and Melendez turned in a time of 2:04.18 in the event.
