Field Hockey Runs Past Roadrunners

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham women's field hockey team put together a strong team performance Saturday afternoon in their 3-1 victory over the Ramapo College Roadrunners at Robert T. Shields Field.

After being shutout in two consecutive games, the Devils (3-2) offense reasserted their dominance on the field by putting 13 shots on goal. Sophomore forward Kim Davis (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) was the first to score for the Devils when she hit one into the back of the cage off an Alexa Paparo (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) assist in the 24th minute.

The Devils stayed on the attack and in the second half they had five-consecutive penalty corners and on the fifth one, junior forward Stephanie Geskes (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) put her team up 2-0 with a big insurance goal.

The FDU-Florham defense put together a solid performance limiting Ramapo (1-5) to only one shot on goal. It was in the 63rd minute when Gianna Mouskourie found the back of the cage for the Roadrunners, which made it a one-goal game.

With under a minute left to play in regulation, Davis sent the ball at cage but it was stopped by Ramapo goalkeeper Emily Kramer, who made ten saves on the day. However, the ball ricocheted off of Kramer and found the stick of freshman Jodie Crutchley (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) who promptly scored the Devils third goal as the final horn sounded.

Senior goalkeeper Amy Defnet (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) did not see a shot come her way in the first half and was replaced at the half by sophomore Samantha Klimaszewski (Green Village, N.J./Madison) who closed out the victory.

Next up for the Devils:
FDU-Florham will go on the road and faceoff against Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, September 17th at 7 p.m.
