Devils Split Doubleheader with Cougars

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DALLAS, Pa. – The FDU-Florham Devils baseball team split a doubleheader with Misericordia University on Saturday afternoon. The Devils dropped game one 7-3 before claiming the second game 4-0.

In the game one defeat, senior shortstop Brandan Adams (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base. In game two, the Devils were led offensively by two-hit games from Adams and junior Frankie Tassielli (Florham Park, N.J./Hanover Park) as junior right-hander Andrew Hille (Edison, N.J./St. Joseph's) silenced the Cougar bats. Hille tossed a complete game two-hit shutout, while striking out eight batters.

Game One:

FDU-Florham got in the run column first when senior Frank LaGuarina (Somerset, N.J./Immaculata) drove in Adams with an RBI-single. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, the Cougars bats came to life as they scored three runs. Misericordia junior catcher Julian Faria knocked a two-run double, which was followed by an RBI-single from sophomore Chris Baroch.

The Cougars tacked on four more runs in the sixth inning and claimed a 7-1 lead. FDU-Florham scored twice in the seventh but ultimately could not mount a comeback. Senior Chris Roberts (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) took the loss for FDU-Florham, while Ryan Dorosh earned the win for Misericordia.

Game Two:

The game started as a pitcher's battle as the two teams were held scoreless over the first four frames. In the bottom of the fifth, the Devils broke through with an RBI-single by Austin Tomaszewicz (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph's).

Tassielli followed with a run-scoring double to center field, which was more than enough for Hille. The junior right-hander was outstanding and limited the Cougars to just two hits on the afternoon to improve to 4-0 on the campaign.

Next up for the Devils:
These two teams faceoff again on Monday, April 7th with first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m. in Madison, N.J.
