Baseball Falls to Cougars 9-1

Box Score FLEMINGTON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham Devils baseball team dropped a Freedom Conference contest 9-1 to Misericordia University on Wednesday night at Diamond Nation.
With the loss, the Devils drop to 11-6 overall and 7-2 in Freedom Conference play, while the Cougars improve to 15-8-1 overall and 9-3 in conference action.

Misericordia freshman right-hander Dan Kliesh silenced the FDU-Florham bats and tossed seven innings, allowed six hits and one run, while striking out seven to earn the victory. Junior AJ Pichalski (Iselin, N.J./JFK) took the loss for the Devils and is now 1-1 on the campaign.

In the top of the first inning, the Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI-double by sophomore Kyle Lindsay. Misericordia tacked on three more runs in the second frame and led 4-0 after two innings of play.

FDU-Florham broke into the scoring column when senior shortstop Brandan Adams (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) tripled to right field, which plated John Bowe (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck). However, Kliesh kept the Devils bats in check the rest of the way and the Cougars prevailed with the win.

The Devils managed nine hits but were only able to generate one run as they left nine men on base in the game. Bowe and Adams each totaled two hits along with sophomore backstop Kevin Sinclair (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep).

Lindsay paced the Cougars offense by going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in the win.

Next up for the Devils:
FDU-Florham continues Freedom Conference play this Friday, April 11th when they take on DeSales University in a home contest at 3:30 p.m.
