MADISON, N.J. -- The FDU-Florham men's and women's swim teams were unable to notch their first victories of the season as the Devils were topped by Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon at Ferguson Recreation Center. The men's team fell 106 to 70 and the women were defeated 124-53.
On the women's side, the Devils earned their lone victory of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle relay event. The team of
Sarah LeChard (East Windsor, N.J.), Katie Emery (Ridley Park, Pa.),
Samantha Irace (Oceanport, N.J.) , and
Alexandra Duarte (Bayville, N.J.) clocked in at 2:01.80 in the race.
LeChard, a member of the FDU-Florham women's soccer team, made her collegiate swimming debut on the day and posted third place finish in the in the 200-yard individual medley and a fifth place result in the 100-yard freestyle.
The Devils men's squad also earned a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay by posting a time of 1:52.40 in the event. The 200-yard freestyle team featured
William Raynes (Basking Ridge, N.J.),
Sean Pentz (Kenilworth, N.J.),
Justin Cole (Wharton, N.J.), and
Kevin Andrews (Sayreville, N.J.).
Additionally, the 200-yard medley relay went to the Devils as
Kevin Andrews (Sayreville, N.J.) ,
Stephen O'Brien (Washington, N.J.) ,
Connor Zero (Red Bank, N.J.), and
David Nadler (Randolph, N.J.) posted a race-best 1:48.50.
Andrews earned a victory by clocking in at 1:05.50 in the 100-yard backstroke event, while O'Brien finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke 1:06.80
Zero was narrowly edged out in the 200-yard freestyle by
David Foery, who held off the Devils freshman by less than one second to earn the win.
Next up for the Devils:FDU-Florham hosts Mount St. Vincent College next Saturday, November 22nd at 1 p.m.
