Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were defeated by New Jersey City, 9-2, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 10-9 while the Gothic Knights improved to 11-8.
New Jersey City started the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second to go along with three more in the bottom of the third. The Gothic Knights made it 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth before FDU cut it to 6-2 in the top of the fifth thanks to a bases loaded walk from junior first baseman
Frank LaGuarina and a sacrifice fly by senior outfielder
Nick Core. NJCU got those runs right back in the bottom half of the fifth though, to take an 8-2 advantage before adding an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh to seal the 9-2 victory.
The Devils were only able to muster four hits on the afternoon with LaGuarina and Core each finishing with a hit and a RBI. Senior pitcher
Jeff Jacobs started and suffered the loss, going three innings and allowing four runs on six hits. Sophomore pitcher
Chris Wirth-Kenyon threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief while striking out two.
The Devils return to action on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Misericordia beginning at 3:30 pm.
