Nick Meoli went 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and three RBI while junior shortstop
Brandan Adams was 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and three RBI to lead the College at Florham Devils to an 8-6 victory over DeSales in the first game of a three-game Freedom Conference series on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 12-13 (8-5 Freedom) while the Bulldogs dropped to 19-8 (10-3 Freedom).
FDU got the scoring started with four runs in the top of the second inning thanks to a two-run home run from Meoli and a two-run double by Adams. DeSales cut it to 4-1 in the bottom of the third but the Devils plated three more in the top of the fourth on a RBI double from Adams, a sacrifice fly by junior first baseman
Frank LaGuarina, and a RBI sinlge by senior catcher
Ricky Gathen. The Bulldogs pulled to within three, 7-4, in the bottom of the fifth before FDU made it 8-4 in the top of the sixth on a RBI single from Meoli. DeSales closed to 8-5 in the bottom of the eighth before making it 8-6 in the bottom of the ninth. In the ninth, they had the bases loaded and only one out but sophomore pitcher
Ryan Thurnes got out of the jam to help the Devils get the win.

James Dertouzos all had two hits apiece. Junior pitcher
Chris Roberts picked up the win on the mound, tossing eight innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on 11 hits while striking out three. Thurnes pitched the ninth to earn the save.
The two squads return to action on Sunday, April 14, 2013, with a doubleheader in Madison beginning at 1 pm.
