Box Score MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils made five errors that led to six unearned runs in a 6-4 loss to Wilkes in Freedom Conference action on Friday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 8-8 (4-2 Freedom) while the Colonels improved to 9-4 (2-3 Freedom).
With one out in the top of the fourth inning, FDU made consecutive errors on groundballs that would have ended the inning but Wilkes capitalized and scored four runs to grab a 4-0 lead. In the top of the fifth inning, the Devils got two outs but another error on a groundball that would have ended the inning allowed the Colonels to score two more runs and take a 6-0 lead. Peter Amerosi scored on a Wilkes error. The Devils cut it to 6-3 in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a solo home run from senior outfielder
Nick Core and a RBI fielder's choice by junior second baseman
John Bowe. FDU crept to within two, 6-4, in the bottom of the ninth on RBI single by Core but that's all they would get as Wilkes escaped with the win.
Core finished the game 3-for-5 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI while junior third baseman
Austin Tomaszewicz wen5 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Chris Roberts was the hard-luck loser on the mound, tossing seven innings and allowing six runs (all unearned) on six hits wihle striking out five. Sophomore pitcher
Chris Wirth-Kenyon pitched a perfect last two innings, striking out three.
The two squads return to action on Saturday, March 30, 2013, with a doubleheader at Wilkes beginning at noon.
