Box Score MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils were knocked off by Rutgers-Camden, 8-4, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 7-7 while the Raptors improved to 12-7.
Camden started the scoring with a run in the top of the second inning before plating four in the top of the fourth to grab a 5-0 lead. FDU cut it to 5-1 in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly by senior outfielder
Nick Core but the Raptors scored three more in the top of the sixth to take an 8-1 lead. The Devils made it 8-2 in the bottom half of the sixth on a RBI single from junior first baseman
Frank LaGuarina before making it 8-3 in the seventh on a RBI triple by junior outfielder
Kyle Herron. The Devils made one last push in the bottom of the eighth, pushing a run across a RBI double from Core but that's all they would get as Camden picked up the win.
LaGuarina finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a RBI while Core went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Junior shortstop
Brandan Adams and junior second baseman
John Bowe each went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Junior pitcher
Alec Fenstermacher started the game and suffered the loss, tossing three innings and allowing four runs on two hits.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at home against Purchase beginning at 3:30 pm.
