Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, FL - On the last day of their Florida Spring Break Trip, the College at Florham Devils opened Freedom Conference play by splitting a pair of games with Delaware Valley on Thursday afternoon. FDU took Game One by a score of 8-2 before falling in the nightcap by a count of 3-1.
With the split, the Devils are now 4-5 (1-1 Freedom) while the Aggies are also 4-5 (1-1 Freedom).
GAME ONE - Delaware Valley started the scoring with two runs in the top of the third inning but FDU responded with five runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a two-run single from senior catcher
Ricky Gathen and a RBI single by sophomore outfielder
Frankie Tassielli. The Devils grabbed a 7-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly and a RBI double from junior shortstop
Brandan Adams before completely the scoring in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a sacrifice fly by junior first baseman
Frank LaGuarina.
Junior pitcher
Chris Roberts picked up the win, tossing a complete game seven innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and striking out four.
GAME TWO - The Aggies struck first once again, plating a run in the top of the second before LaGuarina doubled in the bottom of the fourth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by junior second baseman
John Bowe. DVC broke the tie with two runs in the top of the sixth and held on for the win as the Devils couldn't muster anything offensively.
Sophomore pitcher
AJ Pichalski was the hard-luck loser, going seven innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out two.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Richard Stockton beginning at 3:30 pm.
