Box Score QUAKERTOWN, PA - The third-seeded College at Florham Devils were knocked off by second-seeded DeSales, 3-1, in the First Round of the Freedom Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon.  The Devils will now move to the losers bracket to play top-seeded Misericordia at 3 pm while DeSales goes to the winners bracket to play fourth-seeded Manhattanville at 7 pm.

With the loss, the Devils dropped to 22-17 while the Bulldogs improved to 28-12.

DeSales started the scoring in the bottom of the third inning with one run but FDU came back to tie it at 1-1 in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by junior outfielder Nick Core.  The Bulldogs grabbed a 3-1 advantage in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run single and held off an FDU rally in the top of the ninth to secure the win.  The Devils got the leadoff man on base in that ninth inning but couldn't get anything else done, allowing DeSales to move on.

Senior first baseman Ryan Fandel was the lone Devil with two hits in the game.  Senior pitcher FJ Lucchetti suffered the loss, tossing 6.1 innings and allowing three runs (two earnd) on five hits while striking out nine.

The Devils return to action on Saturday, May 5, 2012, against Misericordia beginning at 3 pm.
