Box Score EWING, NJ - The College at Florham Devils scored two runs in the top of the 13th inning to break a 4-4 tie on their way to a 6-5 victory over TCNJ in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 18-15 on the season.
FDU got the scoring started right away with a run in the top of the first inning on a RBI single from senior outfielder
Matt Joiner. TCNJ came right back with two runs in the bottom of the first but the Devils scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 3-2 lead thanks to another RBI single by Joiner and a sacrifice fly from sophomore designated hitter
Frank LaGuarina. The Lions again responded immediately, tying the game at 3-3 in their half of the fifth. The score stayed that way until the top of the eleventh when LaGuarina gave the Devils a 4-3 lead on a RBI single. TCNJ however, came right back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to keep their hopes alive. FDU plated two more runs in the top of the thirteenth on a sacrifice fly from senior third baseman
John Pieper and a RBI double by freshman outfielder
Frankie Tassielli. The Lions made one last push to keep the game going, scoring one run before getting the tying run on base with two outs but the Devils got out of the jam to pick up the hard-fought win.
Joiner finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBI while LaGuarina went 3-for-6 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Senior shortstop

Brandan Adams each had two hits and two runs scored. Sophomore pitcher
Chris Roberts started the game and earned a no-decision, tossing seven innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on 10 hits. Senior pitcher
Mike Winters threw two innings of scoreless relief and freshman pitcher
AJ Pichalski picked up the win, tossing two innings and allowing one run on one hit.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at cross-town rival Drew beginning at 3:30 pm.
