FJ Lucchetti tossed six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out seven to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 13-4 win over #12 Misericordia in Freedom Conference action on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 9-9 (5-2 Freedom) while the Cougars dropped to 19-3 (6-1 Freedom).
FDU started the scoring right away with four runs in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI triple by Joiner, a sacrifice fly from LaGuarina and a two-run home run by Fandel. The Cougars cut it to 4-2 in the top of the fourth before the Devils made it 6-2 in the bottom thanks to a two-run single from senior third baseman
John Pieper. Misericordia cut it to 6-3 in the top of the seventh but FDU got two back in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run home run from LaGuarina. The Cougars got one in the eighth but the Devils put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth with five runs on a three-run home run from Joiner, a wild pitch and a RBI single from senior catcher
Nick Marcucci to put the Devils up 13-4.
Joiner finished the game 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI while LaGuarina went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and three RBI. Fandel was 3-for-5 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI while junior outfielder
