Matt Joiner went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a RBI while sophomore designated hitter
Frank LaGuarina went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a RBI to help the College at Florham Devils to a 10-4 win over DeSales in Freedom Conference action on Monday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 4-8 (1-2 Freedom) while the Bulldogs dropped to 7-5 (2-1 Freedom).
DeSales got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning but the Devils came back with two in the bottom of the third on a RBI single from senior catcher
Nick Marcucci and a RBI single by Joiner. The Bulldogs went back on top, 4-3, in the top of the sixth but FDU got those three runs back to take a 5-4 advantage in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a RBI single by LaGuarina and a two-run single from senior first baseman
Ryan Fandel. The Devils opened the game up with five runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run DeSales error, a RBI double from freshman outfielder
Frankie Tassielli, another Bulldog error and RBI single by senior shortstop
Steve Seminerio.
Freshman pitcher
Robbie Drexel started and picked up a no-decision, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing four runs on two hits while striking out seven. Senior pitcher
Mike Winters earned the win in relief, going 2.1 innings while allowing no runs on one hit. Freshman pitcher
Robby Berger tossed the ninth inning, striking out three and allowing only one hit.
The Devils return to action on Friday, March 23, 2012, at Wilkes beginning at 3:30 pm.
