Box Score AUBURNDALE, FL - The College at Florham Devils pounded out 21 hits en route to a 15-4 (7 innings) victory over Stevens on the third day of their Florida Spring Break Trip on Monday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 2-4.
FDU started the scoring right away with four runs in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI single by sophomore designated hitter
Frank LaGuarina, a two-run single from senior first baseman
Ryan Fandel, and a RBI single by sophomore second baseman
Brandan Adams. The Devils made it 6-0 in the second thanks to a two-run single from junior outfielder
Nick Core before Stevens cut it to 6-2 in the top of the fifth. FDU blew the game open with five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take an 11-2 lead on a three-run Ducks error and a two-run home run from LaGuarina. Stevens score a run apiece in the top of the sixth and the top of the seventh to close to 11-4 but the Devils ended the game in the bottom of the seventh with four runs thanks to a RBI double from senior outfielder
Matt Joiner, a RBI single by LaGuarina and a two-run double from sophomore second baseman
Nick Meoli.
LaGuarina finished the game 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI while senior shortstop
Steve Seminerio went 4-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored. Fandel and Core each went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Senior pitcher
Glenn Cox picked up the win, tossing six innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, with a doubleheader against Ripon beginning at 2:30 pm.
