MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils knocked off Vassar, 6-4, in non-conference action on Senior Day on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 20-12 while the Brewers dropped ot 12-17.
Vassar got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning but the Devils came back with three in the bottom of the first on RBI singles from senior outfielder
Matt Oliveto and junior first baseman
Ryan Fandel and a bases loaded walk from senior catcher
Joe Meglio. FDU then made it 6-1 in the bottom of the third when Fandel scored on a double play, a RBI single from junior shortstop
Steve Seminerio and a Vassar error. The Brewers cut it to 6-3 in the fifth and 6-4 in the seventh before the FDU bullpen locked things down in the eighth and ninth innings to end the game.
Seminerio finished the game 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI while Oliveto, senior outfielder
Ryan Kalish and freshman second baseman
Brandan Adams all had two hits. Senior pitcher
Mike Gordon made his first career start on Senior Day and came away with the victory, going 2.1 innings while allowing one run on three hits. Junior pitcher
Chris Laudati earned the save, tossing a perfect ninth inning.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Western Connecticut beginning at 4 pm.
