AUBURNDALE, FL - On the second day of their Florida Spring Break Trip, the College at Florham Devils were defeated by Keene State by a score of 10-6.
With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-2 while the Rams improved to 3-1.
The Devils got things started in the bottom of the first inning when sophomore outfielder
Nick Core belted a three-run home run. Keene State plated two in the top of the third but FDU got those runs right back in the bottom of the third thanks to a Ram error and a RBI single from junior first baseman
Ryan Fandel. FDU made it 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by senior outfielder
Dan Pregno but the Rams came back with one in the fifth and four in the sixth to grab a 7-6 lead. Keene State then added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth to put the game away.
Senior outfielder
Matt Oliveto, junior shortstop
Steve Seminerio and junior third baseman
John Pieper each had two hits while junior pitcher
Glenn Cox suffered his first loss of the season, tossing 5.2 innings while allowing seven runs on 13 hits.
The Devils return to action on Monday, March 14, 2011, in Florida against Ripon beginning at 9:30 am.
