MADISON, NJ - Sophomore pitcher
Glenn Cox (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) tossed a complete game nine innings while allowing one run on seven hits and striking out five to lead the College at Florham Devils to their 11th straight victory, a 6-1 decision over Misericordia in Freedom Conference action on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 19-3 (9-1 Freedom) while the Cougars dropped to 13-9 (3-7 Freedom).
The Devils got on the board first with three in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI double by sophomore first baseman
Ryan Fandel (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and a two-run single by junior outfielder
Alex Sariyan (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills). FDU made it 5-0 an inning later thanks to a solo home run by sophomore shortstop
Steve Seminerio (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) and a RBI single by senior third baseman
Greg Geran (Brick, NJ/Red Bank Catholic). The Devils scored their last run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Sariyan. Misericordia finally scratched out a run with two outs in the eighth but couldn't muster anything else off Cox.
Sariyan finished 1-for-2 with three RBI while Fandel went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and a RBI.
The two teams resume their three-game weekend series with a doubleheader at Misericordia on Saturday, April 10, 2010, beginning at noon.
