Paulus Gets 100th Career Win As Devils Beat Rutgers-Camden, 7-6

CAMDEN, NJ - The College at Florham Devils rallied from a 5-1 deficit to beat Rutgers-Camden, 7-6, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.  The comeback victory was the 100th career win for fifth-year FDU Head Coach Andy Paulus.

With the win, the Devils improved to 27-6 on the season.

The Devils got on the board first in the top of the first inning thanks to a RBI single from senior third baseman Greg Geran (Brick, NJ/Red Bank Catholic).  Camden plated two runs in the first, two more in the second and one in the third to take a 5-1 lead after three innings of play.  FDU cut it to 5-3 in the top of the fifth inning on a RBI ground-out by sophomore designated hitter Matt Joiner (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and a solo home run by Geran.  The Devils then took a 7-5 lead in the top of the sixth inning after scoring four runs on a RBI single by sophomore shortstop Steve Seminerio (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park), a sacrifice fly by senior catcher Marc Hubbert (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) and a two-run single from Joiner.  Camden cut it to 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning but the FDU bullpen was able to shut it down to earn the milestone win for Paulus.

Geran finished the game 3-for-3 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI while Joiner went 2-for-4 with three RBI.  Seminerio was 3-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, three runs scored and a RBI.  Sophomore pitcher Bobby Smith (Fishkill, NY/John Jay) picked up the win in relief, tossing four innings and allowing one run on one hit.  Sophomore pitcher Chris Laudati (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearly) earned the save, pitching the ninth inning and allowing no runs on one hit.

The Devils return to action on Friday, April 30, 2010, when they begin a three-game weekend series at home against DeSales beginning at 3:30 pm.  The winner of the series will be the top seed in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament.
