MADISON, NJ - Senior
Joey Santillo (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive) came on to pinch hit in the bottom of the seventh inning in Game One and drilled a walk-off, two-run double to give the College at Florham Devils a 2-1 victory over King's on Saturday afternoon. King's won the nightcap though, by a score of 9-7 in Freedom Conference action.
With the split, the Devils are now 26-6 (14-4 Freedom) while the Monarchs are 19-12 (11-7 Freedom).
GAME ONE - King's got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The game remained a pitcher's duel the rest of the way until Santillo came through with his heroics.

Dan Pregno (Stanhope, NJ/Lenape Valley) and senior third baseman
Greg Geran (Brick, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) each had two doubles in the game. Junior pitcher
Brandon Smith (Burlington, NJ/Pennington Prep) picked up the win, tossing a complete game seven innings and allowing one run (unearned) on four hits.
GAME TWO - The Monarchs took an early lead again, this time getting two runs in the top of the first inning before adding six more runs in the fourth inning to take an 8-0 lead. The Devils came back with two runs in the sixth inning on a two-run error but King's made it 9-2 in the top half of the seventh inning. FDU posted a furious rally in the last of the seventh, scoring five runs to make it 9-7 thanks to a RBI double by senior catcher
Marc Hubbert (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro), a three-run double by sophomore first baseman
Ryan Fandel (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central), and a RBI single by freshman outfielder
Nick Core (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic). The Devils still had two runners on base with two outs but King's got a strike out to end the game.
Hubbert and Geran each had two hits, including a double, while Hubbert and Santillo each scored two runs. Sophomore pitcher
Matt Mizerek (Matawan, NJ/Matawan) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs (three earned) on nine hits in 3.2 innings.
The Devils return to action on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Rutgers-Camden beginning at 3 pm.
