MADISON, NJ - Sophomore shortstop
Steve Seminerio (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) went 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored and three RBI to lead the College at Florham Devils to a 12-6 win over Lehman on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the win, the Devils improved to 24-5.
Lehman got things started with two runs in the top of the first inning but the Devils came right back with three runs in their half of the first on a RBI triple by Seminerio, a RBI single by sophomore first baseman
Matt Joiner (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and a Lehman error. The Lightning went back ahead, 4-3, in the top of the second but the Devils tied it at 4-4 in the bottom of the second thanks to a RBI single from Seminerio. Lehman plated their final two runs in the top of the third and once again the Devils responded in their half ot the inning, tying it at 6-6 on a two-run home run by junior outfielder
Alex Sariyan (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills).
FDU went up 8-6 in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Seminerio and a sacrifice fly by senior designated hitter
Joey Santillo (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive). The Devils took a 10-6 advantage in the bottom of the fifth thanks to RBI singles by sophomore second baseman
John Pieper (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) and junior outfielder
Dan Pregno (Stanhope, NJ/Lenape Valley). FDU closed out the scoring with solo runs in the seventh and eighth innings on a RBI single by Pregno and a bases load walk by freshman outfielder
Nick Core (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), respectively.
Pregno finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while Joiner went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs scored and a RBI.
Sophomore pitcher
Matt LaTorre (Galloway, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) picked up the win in relief, tossing four innings and allowing no runs on two hits while striking out three. Senior pitchers
Bill Buckless (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and
Adam Garry (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) worked the eighth and ninth innings, respectively, and each struck out the side.
The Devils return to action on Friday, April 23, 2010, at King's beginning at 3:30 pm.
