MADISON, NJ - Senior catcher Marc Hubbert (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI in an 8-3 Game One win before going 1-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI in a 10-9 Game Two victory that gave the College at Florham Devils a sweep over Eastern in Freedom Conference action on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Devils improved to 23-5 (12-3 Freedom) while the Eagles dropped to 16-12 (7-8 Freedom).

GAME ONE - The Devils jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the second inning with four runs in the first inning and four more in the second.  In the first, Hubbert had a two-run single sophomore first baseman Ryan Fandel (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) had a two-run home run.  The four runs in the second came thanks to another two-run single from Hubbert, a RBI single by sophomore designated hitter Matt Joiner (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and a RBI single by Fandel.  Eastern got one run in the top of the third inning and two runs in the top of the sixth but it wasn't enough as the Devils picked up the win.

Fandel finished 3-for-3 with a home run, a run scored and three RBI while junior outfielder Dan Pregno (Stanhope, NJ/Lenape Valley) had two hits and two runs scored.  Junior pitcher Brandon Smith (Burlington, NJ/Pennington Prep) picked up the win, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing three runs on 10 hits while striking out six.  Senior pitcher Bill Buckless (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.

GAME TWO - FDU pushed across the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a RBI double by senior third baseman Joey Santillo (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive).  The Eagles came back with two runs in the third and one run in the fourth to take a 3-1 lead before FDU cut it to 3-2 in their half of the fourth on a RBI groundout by senior outfielder Mike Zangrillo (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).  The Devils plated eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to go up, 10-3, on a RBI single by Hubbert, a RBI single by senior designated hitter Greg Geran (Brick, NJ/Red Bank Catholic), a RBI single by junior outfielder Alex Sariyan (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills), three runs thanks to Eastern errors, a RBI single by Pregno and a bases loaded walk by Santillo.  The Devils were cruising until the top of the seventh inning when an Eastern double made it 10-5 and a grand slam cut it to 10-9 but the Devils got the final two outs to preserve the sweep.

Geran finished 1-for-1 with two walks, a runs scored and a RBI while sophomore shortstop Steve Seminerio (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) went 3-for-3 with two doubles a run scored.  Sophomore pitcher Matt Mizerek (Matawan, NJ/Matawan) picked up the win, throwing six innings and allowing three runs on nine hits.  Sophomore pitcher Chris Laudati (Kenilworth, NJ/David Brearly) notched the save, going 0.2 innings and allowing one run on two hits.
