MADISON, NJ - The College at Florham Devils pounded out 22 runs on 20 hits, including four home runs, to knock off CCNY, 22-3, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Devils improved to 8-2.
After CCNY scored two runs in the top of the first innings, FDU erupted for four runs in the second, four runs in the third, two runs in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth to put the game away.
Junior outfielder
Dan Pregno (Stanhope, NJ/Lenape Valley) went 2-for-4 with a home run, three stolen bases, a run scored and five RBI while junior catcher
Joe Meglio (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Sophomore catcher
Greg Caso (Marlboro, NJ/St. John Vianney) drilled a grand slam, senior outfielder
Mike Zangrillo (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI, and freshman outfielder
Ryan Kalish (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson) finished 2-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI.
Sophomore pitcher
Bobby Smith (Fishkill, NY/John Jay) started and went three innings, allowing two runs (zero earned) on four hits while striking out three. Sophomore pitcher
Matt Mizerek (Matawan, NJ/Matawan) picked up the win in relief, tossing three innings and allowing one run (unearned) on seven hits while striking out five.
The Devils return to action on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Manhattanville beginning at 3:30 pm.
