GRANTHAM, PA - The College at Florham Devils knocked off both Widener, 3-2 (26-28, 25-22, 27-25, 22-25, 15-10), and host Messiah, 3-1 (25-21, 12-15, 25-20, 25-21), in the Freedom/Commonwealth Conference Crossover on Saturday afternoon.
With the sweep, the Devils imporved to 17-6.
WIDENER - Senior middle hitter
Lauren Brazier (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) paced the Devils, finishing with 17 kills and eight blocks. Freshman middle hitter
Helena Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest) added 15 kills while senior setter
Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) tallied 36 assists and 14 digs. Senior defender
Rachel Highley (New Holland, PA/Garden Spot) had 15 digs, junior libero
Marta Matera (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had 10 digs, and sophomore outside hitter
Chelsea Hoeffler (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) recorded nine kills and 13 digs.
MESSIAH - Brazier was once again the standout for FDU as she piled up 12 kills and seven blocks while Rieded finished with 10 kills. Kuperman had 20 assists, Hoeffler tallied eight kills and 11 digs, and junior defender
Jackie Kressaty (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) notched 11 digs.
The Devils return to action on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Delaware Valley beginning at 7 pm.
