Men's Lacrosse Downs UMSV at Home in Tight Contest

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team held off a late surge from the University of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins Wednesday night as the Devils came away with a 13-10 win at home. 
 
DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Perillo began the night's scoring for the Devils as the junior attackman found the back of the Dolphins net just 33 seconds into the contest.
  • UMSV answered with a goal from Chai Dunlap with 12:13 left in the period, but four straight goals from the Devils made it a 5-1 game after an unassisted goal from Sheublin with 4:38 remaining in the period. 
  • The Dolphins' Sam Hall netted UMSV's second goal of the night at the 2:12 mark, but Carbo extended the lead back to four with his second goal of the contest. 
  • The Devils continued to keep their foot on the gas in the second period as DiGiacomo netted a goal on an assist from Perillo at the 11:14 mark. 
  • After a nearly a 6:00 scoring drought, Perillo found the back of the UMSV net to extend the Devils' lead to 8-2.
  • Over the final 3:10 of the second period, the Dolphins tallied two goals to cut the FDU lead to 8-4 headed to the break. 
  • In the third, Carbo completed the hat trick with FDU's ninth goal followed by an own goal by the Dolphins to put the Devils up 10-4 with 10:02 to go in the third. 
  • Hall answered for UMSV's fifth goal, but Scheublin netted his second to holdthe FDU lead at six, 11-5. 
  • Once again, Hall scored for the Dolphins to cut the FDU lead to five headed into the final 15:00 of action. 
  • In the fourth, Scheublin scored back-to-back goals for the Devils to make it a 13-6 contest with 11:11 remaining in regulation. 
  • Over the final 6:51 of the game, UMSV scored four times, with two man-up goals due to a late FDU penalty, but the Devils held onto the lead to come away with the 13-10 win.  
GAME NOTES
  • This was Scheublin's second-career four-goal game. 
  • Wednesday's contest was Carbo's second-career hat trick. 
  • This is the third time this season Perillo has amassed six of more points in a game and the third time tallying two or more goals and three of more assists.

The Devils hit the road for their next contest as FDU heads to Gwynedd Mercy for a bout with the Griffins. First face-off is set for 1 p.m.
