Men's Hoops Falls to DeSales at Home

MADISON, N.J. – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to DeSales 80-61 at home Saturday afternoon.

DEVILS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Frankie Denvir led all FDU scorers on the day with 16 points on 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
  • Mac Creek finished the day with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting and added seven assists.
  • Chris Smith was FDU's third double digit scorer with 12 points on 5-of-7 from the field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • DeSales took an early 13-4 lead after a Jayden Thomas three-pointer, but FDU answered with a layup from Smith followed by a trey from Creek to cut the Devils deficit to four at 13-9 with 13:29 left in the half.
  • By the 11:48 mark, Creek made it one-score game with a jumper. Then after a nearly 3:00 scoring drought, Smith knotted the contest at 17 apiece with 8:57 to play in the first half.
  • Shortly after, Denvir gave FDU its first lead of the game with triple to put the Devils ahead 20-19 at the 8:25 mark.
  • With 3:33 to go, after Denvir and Creek added to the FDU lead, the DeSales' Jayden Thomas sank a triple to cut the lead to just one, 23-22. This shot led to a 10-3 run for the Bulldogs to close out the first half and take a 32-25 lead into the break.
  • DeSales opened the second stanza with a 13-8 run to take a 45-33 lead with 13:53 left in regulation.
  • A Jorarei Bile layup at the 11:08 time stamp cut the FDU deficit to six, but this was the closest the Devils cut it in the second half.
GAME NOTES
  • For the second straight game, Denvir led the Devils in scoring.
  • Denvir's 4-for-7 day from beyond the arc was the 12th time a Devils player knocked down four or more in a game.
  • Smith now has 19 games this season with double figure points.
